Patience

During my first visit to Meherabad, I was drawn to a bronze bust of Meher Baba where, shutting my eyes and standing close, I balanced on my toes, touched my nose to His, and pressed my forehead to the cool curve. Each time I saw a mental picture of Liam’s* face and heard him repeat, “patience.”
Now back at his farm, when my dog Bhauji and I were together I began noticing how the word “patience” seemed to be, on occasion, coming from him. Asking my spiritual teacher, David, for an explanation, he told me that a person was working through my puppy. This continued for two years. Then one day while looking at Bhauji, I suddenly saw his energy had changed—now he was only my dog. Whoever it had been had left.*
My realization is, “We live without awareness of interconnected creation until we have an experience that causes us to wonder ‘How?”’
